We talk a lot about the many reasons why people love living in Las Vegas, including the low cost of living, year-round sunshine, and the endless variety of things to do and see. But there’s another pressing reason you should sell your house, pack up the U-Haul, and move to Las Vegas immediately: it’s damn fun!

To prove that point, here are 10 fun facts about Las Vegas that I got a kick out of. Enjoy!

#1 Las Vegas’ drive-through chapels are busy, with more than 300 impromptu weddings every day. That also makes it the destination with the most marriage ceremonies per day in the entire U.S.!

#2 You can gamble just about anywhere in the confines of Las Vegas, as there are electronic gaming and slot machines even in McCarran and movie theaters in the city!

#3 The Luxor pyramid may be a world-renowned shining landmark, but it takes a whole lot of electricity to keep its luster. In fact, the pyramid runs up an electric bill of $51 per hour, or $15,300 per month!

#4 Each day in Las Vegas, more than 60,000 pounds of shrimp are consumed by visitors and locals alike, which is more shellfish than the rest of the U.S. combined! Wow!

#5 If you were crazy (or drunk) enough to dive in to one of the water features in and around the Las Vegas Strip and try to swim, you may want to read this first. In fact, all of the fountains, water features, and man-made lakes in Las Vegas are filled with “grey water,” which is a nice way of saying water that’s been recycled from the city’s runoff of showers, sinks, and bathtubs.

#6 Throughout Las Vegas, there are 105,120 hotel rooms (they may have added one or two since we started writing this!). That means that if you wanted to spend one night in each of Las Vegas’ hotel rooms for some strange reason, it would take you 288 years to complete the task!

#7 Of course, plenty of people come to Las Vegas down-and-out, betting their proverbial last dollar to try and hit it big and reverse their fortunes.

But that’s exactly what Frederick W. Smith did years ago, who also happens to be the CEO of Fed Ex. Early on when FedEx couldn’t even pay a $24,000 fuel bill, Smith took the firm’s last $5,000 and hit the blackjack tables in a last-ditch effort to save his company.

Believe it or not, he won $27,000 on blackjack that day, enough to pay the company’s fuel bill and keep Fed Ex afloat. The company did pretty well on its own after that!

#8 The biggest slot machine winnings in the world occurred in Las Vegas when a 25-year-old software engineer on vacation popped $100 into a slot machine on the floor of the Excalibur and hit it big. In fact, he hit it $39 million big! That’s not only a record but beating 1 in 16.7 million odds! Talk about lucky!

#9 There are nearly endless fun and exciting things to do in Las Vegas, but one unique experience allows you to climb aboard heavy construction equipment and drive around in your own personal sandbox. From bulldozers to dump trucks and much more, you’ll thoroughly enjoy yourself at this construction-themed park. You may even get a chance to crush a car!

#10 Las Vegas holds the distinction of housing 15 of the world’s 25 best hotels, including The Venetian, Caesar’s Palace, the Four Season, and the Bellagio, just to name a few. That’s quite an incredible honor when you think about it!

Pretty interesting, right? I’ll be sure to bring you more fun facts in the future, and please feel free to contact me if you’d like any information about selling in California and moving to the promised land of Las Vegas!
